Born in Mie, 1963. Graduated from Waseda University in the faculty of law. Ogawa joined Asmik, Inc. (currently known as Asmik Ace, Inc.) in 1987. After having had produced video games, he made his debut as a film producer in “Ring 0: Birthday” (2000/Dir. Norio Tsuruta). He has been producing numerous box-office successes and highly-discussed works including “Ping-Pong” (2002/Dir. Fumihiko Sori/Multiple awards including “Picture of the Year” at Japan Academy Film Prize), “Josee, the Tiger and the Fish” (2003/Dir. Isshin Inudo, the winner of the Special Prize at Fujimoto Awards), and “Norwegian Wood” (2010/Dir. Tran Anh Hung/Competition at the 67th Venice International Film Festival). Ogawa has founded Bridgehead, Inc. in July 2012 and the first title he had been involved as a producer after the launch was “The Girl in the Sun” (2013/Dir. Takahiro Miki). “Pieta in the Toilet” (2015/Dir. Daishi Matsunaga) is the Bridgehead’s first produced feature film as a company, which was released in theatres in 2015, followed by multiple produced films such as “Narratage” (2017/Dir. Isao Yukisada), “River’s Edge” (2018/Dir. Isao Yukisada/Opening film at the Panorama section of the 68th Berlin International Film Festival), “My Dad is a Heel Wrestler!” (2018/Dir. Kyohei Fujimura), “Hanalei Bay” (2018/Dir. Daishi Matsunaga), and “The Antique” (2018/Dir. Yukiko Mishima). In 2020, Ogawa produced an original story inspired by the same-titled photo book, “The Asadas” (2020/Dir. Ryota Nakano). Subsequently, he produced “The Door into Summer” (2021/Dir. Takahiro Miki), which is based on the famous overseas Si-Fi novel by Robert A Heinlein, and also “One Day, You Will Reach The Sea” (2022/Dir. Ryutaro Nakagawa), a film adaptation of a novel by Maru Ayase, visualizing it partially with animation.
