Born in Chiba. After her graduation from a university, Kanno started to work as an assistant producer on productions of CineMusica series including “First Love” (2006/Dir. Yukinari Hanawa) and “Cherry Pie” (2006/Dir. Haruo Inoue).
Kanno made her film screenwriting debut in the feature film, “Time Traveller, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time” (2010/Dir. Masaaki Taniguchi).

Kanno had won the Best Screenplay Award at the 19th Fantasia International Film Festival (Canada) for “La La La at Rock Bottom” (2015/Dir. Nobuhiro Yamashita), and also received Best Screenplay Award at the 19th Fantasia Film Festival (Canada) and Best Screenplay Award at the 44th Japan Academy Film Prize for “The Asadas” (2020/Dir. Ryota Nakano), for which she wrote the screenplay together with the director.
