Born in Chiba. After her graduation from a university, Kanno started to work as an assistant producer on productions of CineMusica series including “First Love” (2006/Dir. Yukinari Hanawa) and “Cherry Pie” (2006/Dir. Haruo Inoue).
As a TV scriptwriter, she had worked on an episode “Daihitsu” in the series of “Shu-kan Akagawa Jiro” (TV Tokyo Group), “Ogon Fukei” and “Tomiko no Ashi” in the series of “BUNGO- Japanese Literature Cinema-” (TBS Group). Kanno made her film screenwriting debut in the feature film, “Time Traveller, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time” (2010/Dir. Masaaki Taniguchi). In 2013, she co-wrote a script with Kosuke Mukai for “The Girl in the Sun” (Dir. Takahiro Miki), which had become a hot topic cinema, co-starring Jun Matsumoto and Juri Ueno.

Tetsuo Shinohara) based on a same-titled novel by Hideo Yokoyama, “The Door into Summer” (2021/Dir. Takahiro Miki), “Homestay” on Amazon Prime Video (2022/Dir. Natsuki Seta). Kanno had won the Best Screenplay Award at the 19th Fantasia International Film Festival (Canada) for “La La La at Rock Bottom” (2015/Dir. Nobuhiro Yamashita), and also received Best Screenplay Award at the 19th Fantasia Film Festival (Canada) and Best Screenplay Award at the 44th Japan Academy Film Prize for “The Asadas” (2020/Dir. Ryota Nakano), for which she wrote the screenplay together with the director.In spring 2023, “My Happy Marriage” (Dir. Ayuko Tsukahara), in which she participates as a screenwriter, will be released theatrically.
